What Latch keeps.

Short version: your account and your minutes. Not your voice, and not what you said.

Not stored, anywhere

• Audio of your takes
• Transcripts or the text that was pasted
• Your clipboard
• Text you had selected

For each take, the badge sends the audio (and the selection, if there is one) to our server. The server has it processed on Google Cloud, returns the text to the badge, and drops everything. Nothing from the take is written to disk or a database.

Stored in the cloud

• Your account (via Clerk: email and sign-in method)
• Your plan, and billing through Stripe if you upgrade
• Minutes recorded each month, measured on the server
• Your list of styles, so the account page can show them
• Counters per month: how many takes you made and what they cost to process. No content, only numbers
• The time of your recent takes, to stop abuse, and the status and timing of the last few takes across the service, to spot outages
• Your email, if you upgrade, so we can write to you about billing or fair use

Stored on your PC

• Where you put the badge
• Your styles and languages
• A copy of your minute count, your plan, and your session

This website

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits. It does not use cookies and does not track you across sites. Signing in sets the session cookie that Clerk needs to keep you signed in.
