Using Latch.

Plain terms for a small tool. By creating an account or using the badge you agree to them.

The service

Latch is a Windows app and a website. You press Ctrl+Win, speak, and the app pastes text at your cursor. To do that, the badge sends your audio, and any text you had selected, to our server, which has it processed and returns the result. What we keep is described in the Privacy page.

Your account

• You need an account to dictate. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.
• Keep your sign-in secure. What happens under your account is your responsibility.
• Give an email address that works, so we can reach you about billing or fair use.

Plans and billing

• Free: 60 minutes of dictation every month. Paid: $8 a month, with no minute reminder and every feature of the free plan.
• Paid plans are billed by Stripe and renew every month until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time from Billing. The plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, then your account returns to the free plan.
• We may change prices for future periods. We will tell you by email before a change reaches you.

Fair use

About 10 hours of audio a month is fair use on the paid plan. Past that we send an email, and the account stays open. To stop abuse, we pause an account that sends more than 60 takes in 10 minutes, or more than 6 hours of audio in one UTC day. The badge tells you when to try again.

What you may not do

• Use Latch to break the law or to record people who have not agreed to be recorded where consent is required.
• Send content you have no right to send.
• Try to break, overload, or get around the limits of the service, or resell access to it.
• Reverse engineer the service to build a competing one, except where the law allows it.

Output and accuracy

Speech recognition and rewriting can make mistakes. Check the text before you send, publish, or rely on it, especially in legal, medical, financial, or safety matters. You own the text you dictate and the text Latch returns to you.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Latch running, but we do not promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or remove features, and we will update the app and this page as the product evolves. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

Ending your use

You can stop using Latch at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service at risk. To delete your account, write to us at the address below.

Liability

Latch is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profit, or business, that come from using the service. Nothing here limits rights you have by law that cannot be limited.
